At Sage & Bear Leatherworks, we’re committed to offering quality products, unparalleled service and the most competitive prices in town. Each item is hand crafted and made to order. What does that even mean? you may ask.
Hi, I'm Timothy Bahr, and I personally select each piece of leather used for your order to guarantee the highest quality. After carefully choosing the leather, I hand draw your order's pattern onto it before skillfully cutting it out with shears—special scissors designed for leatherwork. If your order calls for a custom color, I use a sponge or a "dobber," which is a small applicator, to dye the leather according to your unique design request. Next, I punch the holes and hand stitch every item with hundreds of stitches using premium Ritz Tiger thread—a strong, high-quality thread known for its durability. I prefer hand stitching because it provides an unparalleled bond, making the finished product exceptionally strong. Finally, I "glass" the edges, a technique that smooths and polishes them for a clean, finished look. I ensure that each piece meets my high standards for quality and craftsmanship, making your order truly one-of-a-kind.
We use only real American leather. Cuts often vary from full sides to scraps. Here at Sage & Bear, we don't believe in wasting on any level, so as long as the quality and theme of the order isn't jeopardized, we will use every square inch of the leather. Leather often comes with scaring and brands, this is unavoidable, however, we promise to work with you to make your product perfect, fully customized and exactly how you envisioned it.

Owner/Craftsman: Timothy Bahr
Born in one of the richest states but the poorest town of Bridgeport, Connecticut. I dedicated my teenage life to volunteering at PAL (Police Activities League) and joining the Police Cadets, where I rose to the most senior rank (at the time) of Captain. I then went on to join the Army for 10 years garnering Honorable Discharges in the Army and National Guard. After vacationing in the Black Hills with some of my battle buddies, I fell in love with the rich history and rustic landscapes. I made the tough decision to leave everything behind and “go west young man” as my uncle quoted. I would continue to work retail in Sioux Falls to fund my addiction to adventuring in the Black Hills. I eventually met the love of my life Kaylie, who helps with the business. We got married in Spearfish where Kaylie got to meet an influential figure in my life, Fernando, my grandfather. Fernando was a hardass Army veteran from the old country, Portugal, who rode on horseback and carried a big stick (no joke, I have a picture). After the passing of my grandfather, I received some of his leather working tools from Portugal. I would dink around with them and eventually put play into practice, and the rest is history...

What started out as a hobby has become our passion. We’re committed to offering quality products, unparalleled service and the most competitive prices in town. Each item is hand crafted and made to order. While we don't offer refunds due to the time and effort put into making such products, we promise to always make it right. All our products come with "Cowboy/Cowgirl Confidence". This is our promise to make it right for you. If a stitch rips, edges wear or nuts and bolts come loose (normal wear and tear, you get it..) contact us and we will fix it, free!
We care about the environment! We use biodegradable packing and mailing materials and recycle and reuse everything we can.
Orders typically take 5-7 Days to complete to perfection and be mailed out via Pony
Express (USPS).
